I always knew her as May Kelly(thats a stange thing that Irish people do!! they always address the female by their maiden name!!) Anyhows............. she was a lovely ,placid and very kind person who made the greatest Irish breakfast you could ever imagine.   Sean............... I am very sorry but that reference about Romford in the 80's was not you Dad............. but your uncle Pat. Good God there were so many of Jeins from Yellowbatter that they always confuse me!!Three of them... Kathleen,Bernadette and Jacqueline are living in or around the village now, and Rodney( Fintans son) is not far from the village either. All have them are fairly prolific at turning out the babies too. What age are you Sean? and do you box like I think your Dad used to?

Hello Sean, Yes we are related. You are my second cousin, as obviously your Dad is my first cousin. As Helen quite rightly said I have been busy so apologies for the delay in replying. I remember your dad well and I think I may have an old pic or two of him somewhere hanging around?? I last seen him in the mid 80's when he spent a bit of time in Romford in Essex. So how is he? Please pass my regards onto him... I always got on well with him despite the age difference between us. I'm not sure if you realise Sean............. but there are very few of us around in the UK with the same name......... in fact I reckon its only @ 8/9 in total!! Jein is very uncommon and unless your Korean( yes Korean) or Irish from around Drogheda you will find very few with the same surname. I did'nt realise that Tommy had a son called Sean as I have a brother with the same name, but then again, he may have mentioned it and I just forgot. Your e-mail did'nt show on your message......... but please feel free to contact me at aljein@hotmail.com and we can have a natter and maybe even meet as I come up to Mancs on occassions. Your Grandad( I'm not sure if you remember him?) was my fave uncle of all the family and I was devestated when he died suddenly as he did as I had only just got back from staying with him in Yellowbatter when we got the call that he had died.Nice to see you on here Sean and drop me a line and I will reply. Albert

Igot to see exactly what you mean this morning Albert, we were on the porch last night when I saw a flash and heard an unmerciful bang and the ligts went out. The transformer blew up in the neighbourhood and the whole place went dark! It scared the crap out of us! But this morning I put on the computer and it all came up blank! I nearly had a stroke and thought two computers and a bloody lap top all plugged in and on, I thought of the thousand photos I had on mine! I had meant to burn them on CDs but never have the time! I plugged it straight out of the wall and tried it again and thank God it worked!!! Glad to see you will make it home this summer.

Could'nt agree more with you Helen......... although heres a twist on it!! I was sitting at work a few months ago and decided to text someone. All of a sudden the screen went blank and it transpired that my simcard had failed and was un-recoverable!! In the old days we used to write peoples numbers down in an address book or in the back of an ould diary somewhere. Now its all speed dial and could you remember what the number is? Technology is great when it works. When it fails its a pain in the ass. Hope you and all on here had a great Christmas and hope you all have a great New Year as well. I work in retail so was back 8.30 am on boxing day( why is it called boxing day??) and am working straight for 10 days before a day off. And yes................. its not a patch on previous years. If people have money then they are certainly not spending it!!I'll be home in late August/early Sept next year so if anyone wants to share a small one somewhere then just let me know.............. I'm just hoping I might get a bit more that the 1 Euro to the £ which is currently on offer??
Again a very Happy New Year to everyone.

Technically this does not apply tome sinc I am over 40! but I identify with all they say below! It's dead funny and true!

If you are 30 or older you will think this is hilarious!!!!
When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious stories about how hard things were in the past.
When they were growing up they walked twenty-five miles to school every morning
Uphill... barefoot. .. BOTH ways
Yadda, yadda, yadda
And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!
But now I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.
You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!
And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it!
I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalogue!!
There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter, with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!
There were no MP3's or iPods or Napster! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shop lift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up!
We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it!
And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, your Bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!!
You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!
We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation or Wii video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600!
With games lSaraike 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever!
And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!
You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what the hell was on!
You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your fat ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel and there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little brats!
And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove ... Imagine that!
That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy.
You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!
Regards,
The over 30 Crowd
