You did grow up with Michael Jackson although while you and the lads were outside acting the hoor at Fantasy gardens his music was playing inside, ye probably missed that (week after week)and David Carradine did not hang himself by the liathroid someone done it for him don't beleive all you read in the papers! Strange things happen in these Asian countries, mabey you should book a holiday??!!
| Name: Den location: Smokey |

Wow what a day! Dead celebrities all over the place! What makes it worse it when they start being one you grew up with! I remember playing Charlies Angels all over Smokey Hill! And I know when you are 14 or 15 25, 35 or 45 is soooo old! Yet here I am at 43 and I remember playing those games like it was yesterday! Michael Jackson was on Top of the Pops every friggen week when I was up and out! Before that David Carradine was Grasshopper, yeah we even had Kung Fu in Clogher!!! But its sad to see that today all the 14 and 15 year old will remember Michael Jackson as being some freak that molested kids! I personally dont beleive, I just dont know but that I just think that he lost his f*cking mind between Billy Jean and Bad!!! I guess when you have all the money in the world and are just that big what else are you gonna do but decend into your own madness! I just spent the evenging (didnt mean too!) and watched a tribute to him and all his videos and I forgot how good he really was till he lost his friggen mind and I suppose when you think about it how much can a body take?! Black people do not change colour at will! Trush me I married a fella almost 16 years ago and he is still the same colour!!! So what turned him? You can see in him in his videos the change in his face as he went on and made more and more videos. What the hell kind of chemicals does he have in his body? It is so unbelievably sad to see how money and fame can change someone and their outlook on life! its all very sad and poor Farrah fought tooth and nail to stay alive with that damn cancer and Patrick Swazie is still fighting and God alone knows what happened to David Carradine, if he pulls your cards up you will go regardless when and where and no matter who you are or what you are! Anyway enough of that may God look after them all and may they finally find some peace where they are now.

Helen........... It was great pub.. your dead on there. My Uncle Tommy(Kathleens father) used to have a few in there as I recall and always enjoyed it. I will definitely try to look up Denis and Patrick when I'm there and my drinking shoes are already packed for Lorraine....... hehehe. I'm staying with my cousin Rod in Togher and looking forward to seeing his wife and childer for the first time. Its a shame you are not able to come home Helen, but understandable......... keep your chin up love.

Ye cheeky hoor ye! I worked in that pub and drank (coke and blackcurrent) till older then all the baccardi and Guinness they had and it was a lovely pub, now it got a bit dank and dark as the years went on, like the Big Tree did (the REAL Big Tree) not the Big assed Eye sore that is there now! Anyway! There was ALWAYS a good business in the Sail Inn cause the Dublin people always congregated there and loved it for years, no matter what recession or whatever went on ALL FIVE OF THEM PUBS survived one way or another, it's always been that way! And now to hear the the pub is Derilict? Seriously? Who ownes it? What happened? Why wasn't it sold? Prices too high? Is the new Big Tree still open or what? Did nobody have a clue that the Celtic Tiger could not possibly last? ANYWAY! Albert I would have loved to meet you in Clogher this summer but you know with the hubby having a quadruple bypass and all I kinda have to prospone that trip! But I have two brothers you need to look up ... Denis wont be hard to find, look in Declans and Patrick you should wander pst me mother and fathers house (now be warned if you meet Sonny you will be pulled in to explain who exactly who your people are, like he doesnt already know!!! and will probably have to listen to your family history but get Patrick and go for a pint and you will be glad you did but be warned again if you meet up with Lorraine home at the same time..... WELL ... bring your drinking shoes cause she will give you a hell of a run for your money!!! Enjoy your visit and I wish I was there with you all!!!

Helen, The prob with The Sail Inn is that you did'nt order enough pints in there!!. On a serious note....... in these stringent times we are all living through.... who could possibly expect so many pubs in a small village to survive?? Its hard times!!

I just read an article in the Drogheda Leader, I did not know the Sail Inn was in such bad condition! That is such a shame, what happened? Anyone know?

A duck hunter was out enjoying a nice morning on the marsh when he decided to take a leak... He walked over to a tree and propped up his gun. Just then a gust of wind blew, the gun fell over, and discharged...shooting him in the genitals. Several hours later, lying in a hospital bed, he was approached by his doctor. 'Well sir, I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that you are going to be OK. The damage was local to your groin, there was very little internal damage, and we were able to remove all of the buckshot.' 'What's the bad news?' asked the hunter. 'The bad news is that there was some pretty extensive buckshot damage done to your penis. I'm going to have to refer you to my sister.' 'Well I guess that isn't too bad,' the hunter replied. 'Is your sister a plastic surgeon?' 'Not exactly.' answered the doctor. 'She's a flute player in the Syracuse Symphony. She's going to teach you where to put your fingers so you don't piss in your eye.' |
