Allright Desi, you have had enough time to sober up now! Time to spill! How did you enjoy your time in Clogher after such a long absence? Did you ever find anyone you knew? Were you pleasantly surprised or shocked at the changes you saw or did you ever see the light of day outside Declans?! Hope you enjoyed yourself there and at the wedding.

We are having a "Table Quiz" in The Waterside Inn Termonfeckin on Friday 25th September to help boost our funds so that we can keep open every Wednesday. At present there are over 20 people coming to us and we all have a great day. Refreshments are served during the day including lunch. We all play bingo, do ceramics, sing and dance, have a chat and celebrate any birthdays when they occur. We are going to do card making in the next few weeks. People come to us from Annagassan, Baltray, Clogherhead, Monasterboice, Termonfeckin, Togher and Walshestown and its all very friendly in beautiful surroundings. At the "Quiz" a table of 4 is only €20. Refreshments and raffle on the night. |

I know right!!! I remember times being actually nervous walking up to the door for fear we would not get in, maybe it was cause we were too young and we knew that they knew exactly what age we were trying to get into the Big Disco!!! I only realize now just how lucky we were growing up in that village, the freedom we had to be able to go the the hops and the Disco's all summer and be able to go up to the poolroom and bitch and moan about how bored we were and there was nothing to do!!! Then walk up the strand or sit outside the amusements and bitch and moan about how bored we were and how there was nothing to do!!! God how I wish I could go back and live just one of them boring summers all over again with not a care in the world! As for Gaggy I bet when you get to Clogher go into Declans and anyone in there will be able to tell you how you can get in contact with him. Its Clogher remember anyone is easily found! (if they want to be!!!) I bet he would be delighted to meet up with you again for a pint!

Here I was just thinking will someone send Dessie on a walk around the Head again or up the Strand or around the Village in general to take a few photos or "snaps" ha ha! It would be good for other people looking at the site to see what the place is like and what is in it and might entice them to come visit specially when there is a hooley like the Prawn Festival on! Instead of looking at the Drogheda St. Patrick's Day parade which is nice but it's not Clogher! Show them them the Pubs they will drink in, the streets they will dance or sit on and the corners they will puke in and the strand where they will go to sit and some one will always light a fire or ten!!! Pictures of the Village and what it looks like! Just saying like!!!

I can answer that one for you Desi, Christy is his Uncle and so is Jim and Dessie. You know his father if you ever step foot inside the Ashling cause his father was the one would be letting you in! He is probably not short at all just was a bit smaller when standing beside Big Jim and if you pissed off either one of them or they were generally in a bad mood you would not step foot inside that door no matter if you were a local or a stranger!!! I guarantee you if you saw a photo of Gerard you would know him immediately!!! Brian tell your Uncle Christy I said Hello, it's a million years since I saw him, he'd hardly remember me though since am a few years younger than him! ![]() |

Oh my God that is funny ! I was just thinking to myself the only one I know of from somewhere else is Chad at that time anyway! Never knew anything about him 'cept he was a big good looking fella way older than me!!! I guess this is what happens when you get a job in a pub picking up glasses at 13!!! You get to see everyone in the Villge that comes into the pubs!! The Prawn Festival was really great! There was bands on a stage by the Big Tree and people just standing or sitting on the steps or the streets till all hours and I dont remember thre being too much trouble if any.... can't think too hard on it as it gets foggy as the days went on!!!!!! ;)

Hi all, Just a quick announcement for all of Clogherheads well scattered ex pats. The Prawn Festival is making a return to the village in 2010. We have a committee in place putting together plans and are meeting every week. It's in the early stages now but it promises to be more spectacular than ever before! I'll be doing my best as PRO to keep you all updated. For those of you who are planning a return home the festival is pencilled in for the 16th-18th July, so get onto Ryanair for your flights home! The facebook site is up and running so those of you who can should add it. I know this will bring back fond memories for many on the yellow page!!! If you need any info on it don't hesitate to email me: bgarg05@studentmail.dkit.ie |
