FUNDING
CDG’s efforts cannot continue without assistance from committed unpaid voluntary community activists, and funding. Current sources of funding, while limited, are listed below. Therefore, we continue to actively seek and encourage community members who wish to run a local event to get involved and help generate necessary funds for the CDG to continue to operate.
All help is warmly welcomed. To that end, if you have an idea, a suggestion, or would simply like to help, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or email listed here:

Local Lotto / funding source
The local community lotto is run every week and results are published weekly in the Drogheda Independent. Cost is only 2 Euro per week to enter and profits generated help to finance CDG activities. The lotto is significant in that each additional regular weekly lotto member signifies an increase in CDG membership, which directly increases the CDG's chances of securing available grant money, i.e. money that is readily available for communities working together towards quality improvements such as the All Weather Artificial Astro Turf Pitch and children's playground. If at all possible, please help us increase membership numbers so that we may be successful in securing available funding, and together, we will build a stronger community for all to enjoy:

While the Lotto is labour intensive, collecting envelopes, counting money, lodging etc., a viable alternative is for regular weekly members to authorize a direct debit instruction at their bank to forward the weekly 2 Euro lotto cost, on their behalf, to the CDG. The authorization is renewed every three months.
Community Hall / funding source
The activities run in the Community Hall are numerous and generate an income for CDG. This money is in turn spent on ensuring the hall is kept in a clean, bright, warm condition.
Incubation Units / funding source
When rented, the four Incubation Units at the harbour managed by CDG provide a valuable source of income for the group.
Fundraising Events / funding source
Fundraising events such as poker classics or quiz nights are encouraged to raise awareness and funding. The CDG are actively seeking community members who will help run an event to generate funds for the following capital improvement projects and objectives, currently in different stages of development by the CDG:
* All Weather Artificial Astro Turf Pitch
* Children’s Playground.

Louth County Council (LCC)
LCC are by far the biggest local agency through which funding is sourced. As with all government agencies strict specific legal, financial and organizational criteria must be met. Funding is difficult to secure and qualifying projects must meet strict capital improvement criteria. LCC are very supportive of CDG efforts as reflected by its most recent support and funding to convert the old Callystown National School into the new Clogherhead Community Hall, a refurbishment project that cost 127,000 Euro, in funding aid.
Government Grants
As with Local government these grants are hard to come by with very strict criteria. Stumbling blocks in the past have been an inability to demonstrate a significant and coherent membership. CDG see themselves as a facilitator of services or facilities for the community to use by other individuals or groups. Encouraging these groups to become members of CDG would significantly help membership numbers and grant applications for funding.
