INCUBATION UNITS / START-UP BUSINESS
There are four Incubation Units for start-up business' at Clogherhead harbour, established with funding from various organisations, primarily the International Fund for Ireland and Louth County Council (LCC). The concept provides rental space at reasonable rates to allow a small business to ‘incubate’ during its formative years.
These units are managed by CDG who, among other services, procure clients, negotiate lease terms, arrange insurance and pay rates. The funds generated from rents are a valuable source of income for the CDG. Current tenants are:
Dunany Crab (2 Units)
Dunany Crab is owned and operated locally by brothers Noel and James Matthews. The brothers provide employment for five people although work is seasonal and very weather dependant. The business produces crabmeat for the Irish market. For additional information please contact Noel at: 087-2681168
Seamus Dunne (1 Unit)
Seamus buys and sells fish products in Kilkeel, Clogherhead and Dublin. He uses the Unit as a focal and storage point for his business. For additional information please contact Seamus at: 0863847524
Swift Engineering (1 Unit)
Gary Aspell owns and operates this successful fabrication and welding business, which employs seven people. Swift can work on site, or from the company workshop, and currently provides services to the capital improvement and major construction work underway at Clogherhead harbour. Swift also designs and fabricates balconys, railings fences etc. For additional information please contact Gary at: 086-3129975
